Position Summary
This position will support the continuous improvement and performance excellence of a global powder metal parts manufacturer. This critical role will create a transformational culture of continuous improvement with an operational excellence mindset, that challenges the status quo.
The Performance Excellence Leader is a key business partner to all of the company’s sites, providing the link between the Performance Excellence Team and the Sr Leaders (CEO, COO, VPs, Directors, and General Managers).
The Performance Excellence Leader will support the plants in developing, executing, and sharing improvement activities and programs.
· Support the plant’s efforts to reduce internal and external PPM.
· Be engaged in high level customer issues to support resolution.
· Responsible for identifying improvement opportunities then developing teams and partnerships that implement improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and inefficiencies.
This position reports to the COO.
Location:
Position is located in either the West Central Pennsylvania area OR Midwest area.
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
· Drive efforts to achieve improve quality, reduce waste, maximize process performance and develop our employees through the execution of the Competitive Edge (CE) system.
· Develop Competitive Edge roll out strategy, initiatives, activities, coaching and training.
· Coach, challenge, and support plants/functions in the development and execution of their CE strategy.
· Conduct training, lead/support workshops and events.
· Identify improvement areas, including best practice replication, and coordinate/lead selected projects.
· Drive operational excellence principles such as constraint management, one-piece flow production, pull systems, workplace organization and setup reduction.
· Lead efforts to identify and implement opportunities that will enhance profitability and growth.
· Oversee/facilitate/coordinate Lean, 6S, and Kaizen events and activities, monitoring programs and summarizing the progress of all projects in weekly reports, with tracking and key metrics from improvement activities including front and back-office areas.
· Identify and ensure best practices are identified, shared and implemented, using all tools available to capture best practices and build an effective and searchable “library” for sharing great ideas and best practices with all sites
Education & Qualifications:
· Requires Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline.
· 10 years of experience supervising a staff in a manufacturing setting.
· 7 years of experience in Powder Metal preferred.
· 5 years of experience managing and mobilizing cross functional teams through operational changes in process, environment and resources.
· 5 years of experience in Lean Manufacturing waste reduction techniques (6-S, Kaizen, Continuous Flow, Lead Time Reduction, Value Stream Mapping).
· 5 years of experience in efficiency improvements, quality improvements and project management.
· Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Also, background and fundamental knowledge of ERP systems.
